Running a workshop

We want to have group conversations right across the diocese in our 200+ churches and seven deaneries. The conversation could be held in PCCs, home groups, youth groups, music groups, special interest groups, synods, chapters… A wide variety.

You could, for example, choose to hold a single conversation with 12 representative people from your church, or one or two people in different groups – it’s up to you.

We know this engagement begins as we are living amongst a pandemic and all its challenges to us personally, as churches and communities. Therefore, all these group conversations will happen on Zoom and can be taken up to the extent that people have capacity. Let’s be kind to one another.

Also, we hope these conversations can be life-giving at a tough time – a chance to notice all of the good things in our churches and an opportunity to seek God’s presence and leading.

The conversations will be structured around six focused questions and facilitated by someone who then shares the themes and inputs from the members of the group through an online survey, so that everything is captured and considered as we shape our future together.

These conversations can be held between 4 February and April 2021 (exact date tbc) giving time for you to organise them and for us to gather and consider everything that has been shared.

Facilitating a conversation

We would encourage you to find someone from your own church or setting to facilitate your conversations. To run a workshop, you will need two documents, which have all the details you need:

There will be a drop-in for facilitators every Wednesday between 7–8pm, to share some top-tips about facilitating and answer any questions. Please email the Transforming Church. Together dedicated email address to get an invitation for any drop-in.

We also have a team of trained facilitators from around the diocese who can come on request to facilitate. If you’d like to enquire about this, email the Transforming Church. Together dedicated email address.
