On Tuesday 14 September, the Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, Bishop of Bristol, confirmed a group of eight people at the diocese’s first autumn confirmation service this year.

The service was held at Holy Trinity church in Horfield.

“It was a delight to confirm eight wonderful people – all bar one in their teens – at Holy Trinity, Horfield, on Tuesday with the candidates coming from both Bristol City and Bristol West deaneries. It was good to gather in person and to be able to sing, and to see the transforming power of Jesus Christ at work in a new generation. For this I rejoice and give thanks!” said Bishop Viv.

During confirmation, a person confirms the promises they made when they were baptised (or that were made for them if they were baptised as a baby). The bishop lays hands on the person’s head, and asks God’s Holy Spirit to dwell in their hearts, equipping them to journey deeper into the way of Jesus Christ.

The diocese’s next confirmation service will be at All Saints Clifton on 3 October.

Congratulations to those who were confirmed!
