St Peter’s Church, Henleaze has raised £3,333 for Embrace the Middle East, supporting the charity’s vital medical and educational work in Gaza and across the wider Middle East.
The funds were raised through sponsorship of congregation members taking part in the Bristol Bridges Walk, with participants completing either a 45-bridge route or a 45‑kilometre walk. The challenge brought together walkers and supporters from across the church, combining physical endurance with a shared commitment to global justice and compassion.
Embrace the Middle East works through long‑standing Christian partners in the region, supporting healthcare, education and peace‑building initiatives in communities facing significant hardship. St Peter’s fundraising reflects the parish’s desire to stand in solidarity with those affected by conflict and poverty.
Revd Mark Pilgrim, Vicar of St Peter’s Henleaze, said the church was grateful for the generosity and enthusiasm shown by everyone who took part or sponsored the challenge. Initial messages of thanks have already been received from Embrace the Middle East, with a fuller response expected following the conclusion of the fundraising.
The event forms part of St Peter’s ongoing commitment to outward‑looking mission and responding prayerfully and practically to global need.
