Bishops ordain new deacons and priests in moving ceremonies at Bristol Cathedral.

The Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, Bishop of Bristol ordained 8 candidates as Priests and 12 Deacons at Bristol Cathedral across the weekend, in two 'very moving' celebrations.  

Family and friends gathered to mark this key moment in the life and ministry of those to be ordained.   

Candidates ordained as Priests on Saturday 1 July at 3pm at Bristol Cathedral were:  

  • The Revd Wayne Cullum  
  • The Revd Sharon Gleed   
  • The Revd Sarah Heywood  
  • The Revd Sonia Home  
  • The Revd Regan Meares  
  • The Revd Rosemary Radcliffe  
  • The Revd Julie Summers  
  • The Revd Ben Tompson  

Candidates ordained as Deacons on Sunday 2 July at 10:30am were:  

  • Anthea Anthony  
  • Simon Atkins  
  • Niall Blackburn  
  • Kester de Oliveira  
  • Adrian Howkins  
  • Rebecca James  
  • James Manning  
  • Phil Manning  
  • Kathy Prosser  
  • Sharon Roberts  
  • Christian Saguyan
  • Sister Teresa Wright  

In addition, the Rt Revd Paul Thomas, Bishop of Oswestry, ordained Tim Davies in a service on Monday 2 July.   

The Revd Dr Simon Taylor, Director of Mission and Ministry Support at the Diocese of Bristol said:

"'It’s wonderful to see so many people responding to God’s call to ordained ministry. We had a full Cathedral for both ordination ceremonies, and the joyful support and celebration was a great start for the ministries begun in those services.” 

“Please continue to pray for those who were ordained as they begin their ministries. Please pray also for the communities they will serve, and their Training Incumbents."
