Ministers come together

First published 14th April 2013
The first round of Clergy Day Conferences and the Chrism Eucharist brought licensed ministers together to be equipped for leading in mission in March 2013.

The Chrism Eucharist is the annual opportunity for both lay and ordained licensed ministers to gather at Bristol Cathedral with the Bishops to renew their commitment to ministry and ask to be prayed for. Bishop Mike spoke of the challenges of ministering in the public gaze.

This year, the Diocese's Ministry Development Team organised two day conferences for clergy at each end of the Diocese as a new part of the Continuing Professional Development programme for clergy. Addressing the subject of "Speaking about God in contemporary society", Bishop Mike was joined by former Bishop of Stafford, Gordon Mursell, in exploring this subject with over 150 clergy.

The two days were extraordinarily well-received and valued by the clergy who attended and we look forward to the next conferences about How do you get good people? with Bishop Chris Edmondson on 20 and 21 November 2013.
