Heart & Hope: Gathering Around God's Heart for Children, Youth and Families

On Friday 13 June, around 50 people involved in and passionate about Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) ministry gathered from across the Diocese for Heart & Hope – a day dedicated to worship, encouragement, reflection and dreaming together.

The event brought together clergy, lay leaders, volunteers and practitioners from a wide range of contexts, united by a shared desire to see children, young people and families flourish in our churches and communities.

A highlight of the day was hearing from Dr Howard Worsley, who spoke about the vision and theology of children being at the centre of the Kingdom of God. His thoughtful and inspiring input encouraged attendees to consider afresh how we value, nurture and learn from children and young people within the life of the Church.

Throughout the day, participants gathered around tables to share stories from their own ministry contexts. There was space to celebrate successes, recognise where God is at work, and speak honestly about the challenges and struggles that many churches and leaders face. These conversations served as reminders that, while ministry can often feel challenging, we are not alone, and God continues to move powerfully through faithful service.

Three individuals shared stories that offered a glimpse into the many ways God is at work across the Diocese. These testimonies spoke of lives being transformed, communities being strengthened, and new opportunities emerging to engage children, young people and families with the love of Christ.

As well as reflecting on the present, Heart & Hope looked to the future. Through prayer, conversation and shared discernment, those gathered spent time dreaming together about what God might be calling them into in the years ahead. The day created space not only to celebrate what has been, but also to renew our vision and hope for what could be.

Most of all, Heart & Hope was a reminder that God is at work across our Diocese in countless ways. As we continue to support and encourage one another, we do so with confidence that God is building his Kingdom through the faithfulness, creativity and commitment of those serving children, young people and families.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the day. We look forward to continuing the conversations and seeing where God leads us next.
