Former Archbishop Rowan Williams to preach at St Anne's, Eastville centenary

On Sunday, 26 July, former Archbishop of Canterbury, the Rt Revd Rowan Williams, will preach and preside at St Anne’s Church in Eastville, Bristol as they celebrate 100 years since the church was consecrated. The service will be followed by an afternoon garden party, celebrating the many community groups and events that use the buildings, and evening service of music and readings.

During the evening service, reading charting the history of St Anne’s, named after St Anne the mother of Mary, will be shared.

Revd Emma Langley, Priest in Charge of St Anne’s, said:

“For 100 years, St Anne's has been serving a vibrant and wonderfully diverse part of Bristol. We're looking forward to celebrating all that this church has meant to so many people over the last century, through the milestones of life, the practice of faith and the life of our community. We're excited to welcome Archbishop Rowan Williams as we give thanks for our past and renew our commitment to serving our community with hope, generosity and love in the years ahead. Whether St Anne's has been part of your life for decades or you've only recently discovered us, we'd love you to come and celebrate with us.”

The church is particularly extending an invite to those who have had a connection to the church over its history, such as couples who were married in the building or those who attended the Boys Brigade group which used to gather there.
