Diocese appoints new Children, Young People and Families strategy lead

The Diocese of Bristol is pleased to share that Revd Malcolm Strange has been appointed as its new lead for Children, Young People and Family's strategy. Revd Malcolm will begin his role in January 2026 following the end of his time as Rector of the Fromeside Benefice.

Malcolm comes into the role with a wealth of experience, having worked in various roles relating to both young people and the church. During his time as incumbent of the Fromeside Benefice, he has regularly visited schools in the area, becoming a friendly, trusted face. Prior to this, Malcolm worked in education, becoming a senior school leader before his transition to ministry.

In his role with the Diocese, he will support those working to develop the Children, Young People and Families strategy. This will include developing chaplaincies which work with under 18s, continuing to invest in youth and children's engagement across the diocese and growing partnerships between churches, schools and their local communities. Malcolm will work closely with the Diocese’s Safeguarding team to ensure that all aspects of the strategy continue to put the wellbeing of our young people first.

Malcolm said:

I’m excited about joining the Children, Young People and Families team as we strive to develop our work within this key area of the Diocese's life. I hope and pray that my experience on the ground in both schools and parishes will help as we endeavour to place 'Growing Faith' at the heart of all that we do.
