Archdeacons’ Visitations

Once churchwardens have been elected at their APCM, in order to be legally in post they need to make their declaration as Bishop’s Officers.  This happens at the Archdeacon’s Visitation in early November.  This year we will be holding these events by Zoom.  Please register to participate in one of these events using the link beside each event on the table below.  You will then be sent Zoom log in details.  If you are unable to attend the event for your deanery, you may register for another deanery’s event.

We are asking all Churchwardens to have obtained their DBS check before attending the Visitation.  Your Parish Safeguarding Officer will assist you. 

An Evening for New Churchwardens

The Visitations will be swiftly followed by an evening for all those Churchwardens are new in post, this will be held at 7.00pm on Thursday 26 November by Zoom.  The archdeacons and the diocesan registrar will be covering the various responsibilities that Churchwardens take on and will be able to answer your questions. This will also be a last chance to make your declaration. If you are experienced warden you are able to leave the meeting once you have made your declaration.

Churchwardens’ Quiet Day

We are pleased to be able to offer Churchwardens an opportunity to spend a day in quiet reflection, prayer and meditation.  This will be a chance to put to one side the pressures and tensions of your responsibilities, just for a day.  The Head of Ministry Development, Revd Dr Simon Taylor will be leading the sessions on Saturday 7 November, 9.30am to 3.30pm 2020 by Zoom. During the day we will worship together, be guided to reflect on the book of Esther, and have time to be quiet, pray and reflect by ourselves.  This will not be on Zoom all the time, but interspersed through the day to aid being alone with God.
