Two inspiring individuals from the Diocese of Bristol have been featured in a national Church of England film for Vocations Sunday, sharing their powerful stories of discovering God’s call in their lives.
The Revd Mel Takáč, Minor Canon for Worship and Liturgy at Bristol Cathedral and Iain Nash, Children and Families Minister at St Michael’s Church in Stoke Gifford, appear in the Is it You? film and online service, launched on Sunday 11 May. The project highlights the deeply personal nature of vocation and encourages people across the country to reflect on how God might be calling them to a broad variety of ministries.
Mel speaks movingly of sensing the call to ordination just a year after becoming a Christian. “This isn’t a journey that you take alone,” she says. “Please do speak to someone, there is no other feeling quite like finding your place in God’s world and your own calling.”
Iain, who previously worked in insurance, describes the “real sense of purpose” he has found in his ministry role working with children and families. His journey is one of many that demonstrate how vocation can lead to a life of deep fulfilment and service.
The Revd Rebecca Stevens, Adviser for Ordinands and Vocations (Diocesan Director of Ordinands) for the Diocese of Bristol, said:
“It is a real joy to see Mel and Iain’s moving vocation stories shared so widely. I hope that their examples of responding to God’s calling will inspire and help others across our Diocese recognise that God calls each of us, uniquely, lovingly, and purposefully.”
The Is it You? film and national online service are available to watch via the Church of England’s website and YouTube channels.
