Bristol Diocese starts group for disabled people

First published 18th June 2021

A new group for disabled people in the diocese has been created by the Diocesan Disability Adviser, Alice Kemp, the group will aim to enable disabled Christians across the diocese to share their experiences, support one another, pray and be a more collective voice on disability with the diocese.

The Bristol Diocese Disabled Voices Group will be meeting from July 1 at 7pm using Zoom, allowing those who find travel challenging to attend.

Alice said: “Within our churches we have many disabled people. The church can learn much from the voices and experiences of disabled people however often their voices are not heard.

“I have been Disability Adviser for the diocese for around eight years and one of the things that I have always wanted to do was to bring together disabled people across the diocese. However, because of the geographical distances involved this has been difficult for many of us who find travelling challenging. The arrival of Zoom has now made it a possibility.”

If you would like to join The Bristol Diocese Disabled Voices Group, please email Alice Kemp for the Zoom details. If you would like to be a part of the group but cannot join on July 1 or are unable to use Zoom or join over the phone, get in touch with Alice and she can keep you informed about future meetings.
