What is Carbon Literacy?

“An awareness of the carbon dioxide costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.”

Carbon Literacy training differs from run-of-the-mill training because it is designed in such a way to provide up-to-date information about climate science and its impacts. It aims to help people ask the right questions so that they are given the power and agency to recognise their role in moving towards a low-carbon society.

Carbon literacy training is a 6-hour online course covering – climate change, carbon footprints, how you can do your bit, and why it’s relevant to you and your community. The course is split into three sessions across three weeks. The Diocese of Bristol is running training dates are below;

Wednesday 10th April (11:00 – 13:00) - online

Wednesday 17th April (11:00 – 13:00) - online

Wednesday 24th April (11:00 – 13:00) - online

The course is free to attend, however, if participants would like to obtain the official Carbon Literacy certificate, there is a £10 admin fee.
