Do you see God at work in the lives of children and young people? Do you believe him to be a transformational God who longs for children to experience ‘life in all its fullness’?  Do you long to connect parish and school communities and the families with whom they engage so all can flourish and feel they belong? Maybe this role is for you.

We are looking to expand the work under the Diocesan Board of Education and the diocesan Transforming Church.Together strategy.

We are articulating a broader vision for CYPF ministry.  Our hope is to work more closely with parishes, schools and those engaging with CYPF to further support and grow a culture where children, young people and families are a central part of ministry, already expressed in many places across our diocese   We realise that this is a learning journey which will including developing further a new strategy, new practice and sharing a passion for all to flourish in the knowledge and love of Christ.

The Organisation

The Diocese of Bristol is the administrative area of the Church of England that covers Bristol, Swindon and surrounding rural and smaller urban areas. There are more than 200 church communities in the Diocese, led by hundreds of clergy, and around 15,000 children and young people attending over 70 church schools. In many ways the best description of the Diocese is as a family of 30,000 or so people in schools, churches and exciting new expressions of what modern church looks like - people of all ages coming together with clergy, staff and volunteers to work together with a common goal.

This role is a key part of this transformation as we seek to understand what we can change for the better and get on to create a positive way forward together. The flourishing of children and young people is a priority within this vision.

Desired Skills and Experience:

You’ll be working alongside those in schools, ministry teams in churches, volunteers, and people within the parishes to help everyone understand and develop highly engaging, relevant and sustainable parish and school partnership and growth plans – one that can have a transformational effect on children, young people and their families.

Candidates should be:

  • Friendly and warm in character with an ability to relate to and build trust quickly with a diverse range of people, begin ‘at home’ in church and educational settings
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to collaborative team-working, with appropriate initiative and self-motivation, and to promoting and modelling best practice in Safeguarding
  • Committed to the engagement of children, young people and families in the life of faith
  • Have excellent communication skills, able to represent the Diocese at all levels, be involved in current research and work within policy frameworks
  • Able to understand how school, church and organisational systems work and how to put in place good strategy and systems based on deep relationships.
