Clerk to the Trustees – Christ Church Lands Charity
Hours: Approximately twelve per week on average
Salary: Circa £9,000 (depending on duties undertaken)
Annual Leave/Bank Holidays: pro rata 5.6 weeks per annum
Are you well-organised? Are you a good communicator? Are you able to assess a situation and determine the appropriate course of action? Are you comfortable with taking minutes? Christ Church Lands Charity is looking to appoint a Clerk to support its Board of Trustees.
The Organisation
Christ Church Lands Charity (CCLC) consists of a group of trustees who oversee the management of three residential and four commercial properties owned by the charity in central Bristol. The Clerk will be guided by the trustees to ensure that the properties are well-maintained and each has tenants. The net income received from these properties is then donated to our designated charities.
What will you be doing:
- Arranging board meetings, coordinating the agenda and taking minutes
- Producing and monitoring actions to ensure their completion
- Responding as first point of contact for both commercial and residential tenants
- Monitoring charity income and expenditure, including payment of invoices
- Compiling financial records in readiness for the annual submission to the accountants
- Ensuring Charity Commission website details are complete and accurate
- Communicating with contractors regarding maintenance works required to be undertaken at the charity properties
- Arranging and attending property inspections, providing feedback to trustees, and ensuring that all building safety regulations (i.e. fire inspections, PAT tests, etc) are completed in a timely manner
- Liaising with both the residential and commercial letting agents regarding processing tenancy renewals and contractual paperwork
Whilst not essential, the ideal candidate will have:
- Good standard of general education
- Good administration organisational and problem-solving skills
- Awareness of property management
The Charity Office is based near St Nicholas Market in Bristol, yet the role is varied and can be worked flexibly to suit the availability of the postholder, either at home or in the office.
