Interested in having someone external to the parish come alongside your church to offer tailored support and encouragement?
Want clarity on what health and sustainability might look like in your context?
Need a fresh sense of the way forward and a plan to achieve it?
What is Parish Development?
Churches are not static but living organisms, going through life cycles and experiencing periods of growth, maturity, waning and resurrection. Because of this, they require ongoing attention and strategic intervention to maintain vitality and be responsive to change.
The goal of Parish Development is to come alongside a church, parish or benefice to offer bespoke support to clergy and lay members to offer fresh perspective on where intervention might be useful and what health and sustainability might look like in their context, setting or tradition.
What does Parish Development offer?
As each church has distinct opportunities, challenges and resources, initial interactions involve listening and conversation to identify and develp a tailored approach for the local parish. Working wiht the incumbent, ministry team, PCC and church members, help offered might include:
-
Defining values and what matters to the church
-
Clarifying and communicating vision
-
Encouraging a missional church culture
-
Highlighting and building on strengths
-
Identifying a sense of call and charism
-
Helping the church develop an abundance mindset
-
Identifying where ministries are on the EcoCycle
-
Equipping for community engagement
-
Developing a health and sustainability plan
-
Recommending appropriate resources
-
Signposting to training or other Diocesan resources outside the scope of parish development
