Day twenty-three: Meet Canon Sue Farrance

Tony NjorogeSue has been a Licensed Lay Minister (LLM) for 20 years — two decades of ministry that have been varied, exciting, and deeply rewarding

"Since 2019 I have been privileged to tutor LLMs in their final year of training. To date, I have walked alongside 31 people who have been licensed as Lay Ministers in our Diocese"

For Sue, tutoring is a joy. She loves seeing people with hugely different stories come together as a cohort, grow in confidence, and fledge into ministers who share the gospel in the communities where they live and work.

Alongside this role, Sue continues to serve in her parish — leading worship, preaching, and encouraging others to ask, “Where is God in this?” Her ministry also reaches far beyond the local church through her volunteer work with Operation Christmas Child, coordinating Bristol and Bath in collecting shoebox gifts for children around the world

"It brings a thrill to me to see these gifts sent with the message of God’s love and hope for them"

Sue’s story reminds us that ministry is about equipping others, serving faithfully, and sharing God’s love in practical ways.
