David is a Licensed Lay Minister (LLM) based in Redland, North Bristol. Though officially retired from staff ministry, David continues to serve faithfully in a voluntary capacity, offering pastoral support and spiritual presence in places where it’s needed most.
David is part of the chaplaincy team at the University of Law, where he joins students during their lunch hour, offering a listening ear and gentle guidance.
"'Some students have wanted to talk to us about their own faith journeys and that is very special."
His ministry is rooted in compassion and attentiveness to not only to those who are struggling, but also to those navigating ambition, uncertainty, and change. David’s story reminds us that lay ministry is not limited by age or job title. It’s a lifelong calling to walk alongside others with humility and hope.
"The ambitious and the able have needs as well as the marginalised and vulnerable."
Your support helps people like David step into their calling.
Every donation to the Diocese of Bristol helps open the door to training, formation, and ongoing support for LLMs across our region.
Thank you for reading David’s story. Come back tomorrow to open the next door and hear from another of our dedicated lay ministers.
