Lay Training Support Officer
Can you help us to develop and deliver training to support lay ministry in new and existing forms?
Hours:14-17.5 hours per week (to fit successful candidate)
Salary: £33,250 FTE per annum pro rata
Location: Located at our Diocesan office in Stoke Gifford with an opportunity to explore hybrid working arrangements.
Duration: Fixed term 2 years.
Role Overview and Duties
- Delivering Training to lay people, particularly those preparing for new ministries as pastoral carers, evangelists, small group leaders and service leaders.
- Training trainers to increase capacity
- A member of the Mission and Ministry Support Team who supports and advocates for lay ministry.
The Organisation:
The Diocese of Bristol is the part of the Church of England that serves Bristol and Swindon. There are more than 200 churches in the Diocese, led by hundreds of clergy and LLMs. In addition, around 15,000 children and young people attend our 72 church schools.

Desired Skills and Experience:
The Lay Ministry Training Officer will help deliver training for all forms of lay ministry across the Diocese of Bristol, including helping to shape the provision of new forms of locally commissioned lay ministry. They will help to shape a culture within the Diocese which fosters a supportive approach to lay ministry and a diversity of people engaged in that ministry.
