Are you passionate about helping churches thrive and sustain their ministry?
Do you enjoy building relationships, delivering training, and helping people develop a culture of generosity?
If so, this could be the ideal role for you.
The Role
We're the Diocese of Bristol — the Church of England across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Wiltshire and Swindon. We are working to strengthen our culture of generosity, deepen trust with parishes, and equip churches for sustainable mission and ministry. As part of this work, we are delighted to be recruiting a Giving Officer to join our growing Generosity & Giving Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside churches across the Diocese, helping them build confidence in stewardship, grow giving, and develop the resources needed to support their ministry and mission for years to come.
As Giving Officer, you will:
- Build trusted relationships with clergy, PCCs and parish leadership teams across the Diocese.
- Provide practical advice and support to help churches develop year-round giving and generosity plans.
- Deliver engaging workshops, training sessions and resources to support stewardship and generous discipleship
- Support churches to strengthen their giving mechanisms, including digital giving and the Parish Giving Scheme.
- Encourage and support the use of national generosity tools and programmes, including Cornerstone, MINT and IDEA
- Promote opportunities for legacy giving and long-term financial sustainability.
- Monitor outcomes, evaluate impact and contribute to reporting, communications and case studies.
This is a role for someone who enjoys working with people, is confident facilitating conversations about money and generosity, and is motivated by helping churches thrive.
About You
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and relationship-building skills who is motivated by helping churches flourish.
You will have experience in fundraising, stewardship, church finance, giving development, or a related field, alongside the confidence to train, coach, and inspire a wide range of audiences. You will be organised, proactive, comfortable working independently, and enthusiastic about supporting the mission of the Church.
We Also Offer
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
- 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- A contributory pension scheme and life assurance.
- Company sick pay.
- Opportunities for professional development and training.
- Free onsite parking.
- A warm, supportive and values-led team environment.
