Independent Chair, Diocesan Safeguarding Steering Group

Diocese of Bristol, Church of England

The role has an expected, annual time commitment of 10-12 days with remuneration of £4,000 plus expenses.

As the Church of England from Bristol to Swindon, we want our 200 churches to be places where people can be welcomed into open and safe communities. As Independent Chair of the Diocesan Safeguarding Steering Group you will contribute significantly to developing further a strong safeguarding culture supported by best practice.

The successful appointee will provide effective leadership and guidance to the Group, whose role is to provide independent oversight, advice and expertise on safeguarding policies, procedures and practices to the Diocesan Safeguarding Team, the Bishop of Bristol and other senior clergy.

Applicants should have significant safeguarding experience gained at a senior level in a relevant statutory, voluntary or judicial agency; be able to demonstrate strategic leadership; and have an understanding of the current legislative framework, including safeguarding practice and processes.

The ability to lead, influence key decision makers and build confidence and capacity are key attributes of the role.

You should be supportive of the mission and ethos of the Church of England.

    Interviews are 8th or 9th January 2020
