    The Dean and Chapter are recruiting a part time (0.8) Education Officer to temporarily replace an existing member of staff who is on Maternity Leave as of September 2018.This note sets out the main terms and conditions and some further information about the role.

    We are particularly interested in those who have had classroom and teaching experience and can think creatively about how to engage with schools in the unique setting that is Bristol Cathedral.

    Faith:The role is open to those of any faith and no faith. We are, however, a Christian place of worship and the successful candidate should be in sympathy with the Cathedral’s mission and the values of the Church.

    Salary:Between £16,500 - £18,500 per annum based on 0.8, term-time only

    Probation period:6 months

    Hours of work:The basic hours of work are 28 hours a week, term time only. However, there is some flexibility in this as holiday work may be required.

    Holiday:Leave is mostly to be taken during school holidays (or possibly at other times as agreed with line manager)

    Pension:There is a Church workers pension scheme available, to which the Cathedral will make a maximum 5% matched contribution. Eligibility starts upon completion of the probationary period.

    Notice period:The notice period during the probationary period is two weeks, and after the probationary period, two months.

    Disclosure and barring service check:As part of the Cathedral’s safeguarding policy, Education workers are required to have a DBS check.The successful applicant would be asked to complete a check before a contract is issued.

    Training:Training will be provided in relation to safeguarding, health and safety and any other training that is deemed appropriate.
