The Diocese of Bristol has a track record of innovation, creativity and effectiveness in its practice of ministerial development. We are now looking to appoint a Director who will continue and further that tradition at a time of significant change in thinking about this area in the national church.

The Director of Ministry Development will bring insights into ministerial vocation, formation and development to help shape a culture in which our ordained and lay ministers will enter more deeply into prayer and learning, learn from each other’s experiences and ministerial practice, and be inspired for the work of mission, evangelism and service.

As a member of Rt Revd Viv Faull’s Bishop’s Staff team, you will also have the opportunity to form a new Ministry Development team to take forward the Diocese’s approach to vocational discernment and ministerial development in a new season for the Diocese. You will have particular responsibility for the ministerial development of incumbents. You will work alongside an experienced Sponsoring Bishop, two newly appointed Archdeacons and join a wider team in the Diocesan Support Services led by the Diocesan Secretary, valued for its culture of service to the Diocese as a whole.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community, particularly from underrepresented groups, including members of our black and minority ethnic (BAME) communities.
