The Bishop of Bristol, the Rt Revd Mike Hill, has said he is very sorry to learn of the death of Lord Joffe, a resident of the Diocese.
He said: "I was sorry to hear of Lord Joffe's recent death. I am aware of his work as a peer and, even where we disagreed, I was touched by his gracious response on the few occasions we conversed together.
"I offer my sincere condolences and thoughts to his friends and family as they come terms with their loss."
