'Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute.' Proverbs 31:8

Safeguarding officers and clergy from across the Diocese gathered in St Mary Redcliffe Church yesterday where they were thanked and commissioned by Bishop Mike Hill at a service to recognise the centrality of safeguarding in our churches and in the community.

In his address, Justin Humphreys, Independent Chair of the Diocesan Safeguarding Steering Group and Executive Director of the Churches' Child Protection Advisory Service, praised the work of the safeguarding officers, challenged the church to  'be the voice for the voiceless'.

The full address can be downloaded here.

Pictures from the service are available on our Facebook page.
