The theme of this year’s festival, The Word Around Us, reflects a desire to engage with scripture in an imaginative ways that make it relevant to life in a modern, secular world.
There will be opportunities to try out a number of approaches – practical and more contemplative - using music, drama, dance, visual art and making, and creative writing as well as a prayer walk and space for reflection.
After an enjoyable Friday evening getting to know each other and listening to a concert by musician Simeon Wood, Saturday will be spent Saturday exploring a variety of creative techniques. There will be the opportunity to learn some new ways of expression, as well as developing existing skills. During the evening there will be a time to share what has been learned in the shape of a 'facilitated entertainment'.
On Sunday, the pace will change while you consider how you might apply the lessons of the weekend within your own church contexts.
Some of the sessions will be led by ArtServe members, others by external facilitators. All are experts in their fields.
