Christians in Science - Dr Jennifer Wiseman
Modern telescopes are revealing an incredible, beautiful, and active universe.
Dr Wiseman, astronomer and Fellow of the American Scientific Affiliation, a sister network of Christians in Science UK, will show images of beautiful nebulae, active planets, star nurseries, galaxies that harbour black holes, and even infant galaxies from the distant universe and will help us explore the sense of awe and purpose kindled by both science and the Psalms.
Dr Wiseman is currently a senior astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Centre. She is also interested in public science policy and outreach, and directs the Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Religion for the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In this talk she is not presenting NASA policy but rather her own personal reflections on faith in the light of the findings of her research into galaxy formation.
Talks last an hour and are followed with an extended question time; formal finish is at 9.30pm. Doors open at 7pm for free homemade tea and cake before the talk starts.
