Bristol’s Blue Wave, 24th October – full details:
Where: Gather near the Ferry Boat Station (café and bike hire) on the floating harbour, opposite the Watershed. The activities will take place around harbour area.
The event: Ask people to come dressed in blue, with something blue to wave and/or be painted blue when they arrive (Oxfam have lots of blue face paint). Oxfam are thinking of collecting blue triangles of fabric with pledges or messages on them to make into bunting to take to the SCC march on 5th December – so we could prepare lots of blue triangles and get people to write on them at the event.
We will gather at the Ferry Boat. Ideas include: music, celebrity speakers, a slow walk or human chain (with blue fabric/bunting) around the floating harbour, a human blue wave, using clocks in some way to reflect the Countdown to Copenhagen, signing up to go to London on 5th Dec (all details tbc).
Who: The event is for the whole of Bristol – individuals, NGOs, environmental orgs, small and large, trade unions, local government, the Diocese and churches, schools, arts agencies, businesses, universities and college, community groups… i.e. everyone!
Fringe events: Other events and promotions will happen in collaboration with the Bristol Blue Wave on the same day. Coalition members, cafes, bars, venues, will put on events and promotions with a climate friendly focus to coincide with the Bristol Blue Wave
