Bishop Stanley Ntagali to be next Archbishop of Uganda

Rt Revd Stanley Ntagali has today been elected the 8th Archbishop of Uganda by the Ugandan House of Bishops.

Bishop Stanley will be installed as Archbishop on 16th December 2012 at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe and Bishop Mike will be attending the installation. Bishop Stanley will also become the Bishop of Kampala.

Bishop Stanley has been the Bishop of Masindi-Kitara for eight years, a new diocese that he had a part in paving the way for as the Archdeaon of Masindi and later the Diocesan Secretary.

The Diocese of Masindi-Kitara has recently formed a link with the Diocese of Bristol Board of Education following a visit by Bishop Stanley in June 2010.

“I am delighted to hear of Bishop Stanley’s election,” said Bishop Mike.

“I greatly enjoyed getting to know him when he visited Bristol. He is a man of wisdom and biblical integrity with a warm personality. I look forward to travelling to Uganda for his installation and to working with him to build further the strong links between the Diocese of Bristol and the Church of Uganda. My prayers are with him and his family as they prepare for this humbling next phase of his ministry.”

Bishop Stanley has been well prepared for this new responsibility having served as Provincial Administrator for the Church of Uganda and, since becoming a Bishop, has represented the Archbishop Henry Orombi in international meetings. Bishop Stanley has been married to Beatrice for over 30 years and they have five children.
