I am very much looking forward to whatever lies ahead after priesting, and know that it will be a mix of joys and sorrows, because that is what life consists of. As ordinands we should all believe that God has brought us to this point and can only continue with Him leading us and His Holy Spirit equipping us. I was very struck by a story in the Maundy Thursday sermon about doing particular work for God. On being appointed Area Dean someone wrote to the effect that …..”you are not fit to do the job, but you have been called.” Oh yes!
God’s commission to Joshua (Joshua 1 vv1-9) is worth reading for us all. The passage ends: “Be strong and courageous ; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you may go.”
