Dr Virginia ROYSTON, to be Assistant Curate (SSM) in the Benefice of St Saviour with St Mary, Cotham and St Paul, Clifton.
Two biblical passages sum up my journey to ordination. The first is that of Jacob wrestling for long hours through the night with the angel and coming through – changed and knowing God in a completely different way. And the other is the story of Jesus on the road to Emmaus, patiently walking with the disciples who are going in the wrong direction.
The hallmarks have been struggling to listen honestly, becoming aware of God’s patient companionship, and a longing to touch the hurt of our world with God’s healing love. It has been an exciting roller coaster reaching this place – always supported by the love of family and friends.
I am looking forward to continuing my work as a general practitioner, and to serving at Cotham Parish Church and St Paul’s, Clifton where we can continue to build communities where the challenging and compassionate love of God can be known.
