Wendy Gardiner

Mrs Wendy GARDINER,  ordained Deacon, to be Assistant Curate (OLM) in the Benefice and Parish of St Luke with Christ Church, Barton Hill and St Matthew, Moorfields.

“It was in my mid teens that I first became aware of God’s presence with me and of His care and provision for my life.

I eagerly read the Scriptures for the first time and tried to follow the teachings I read in them.

The two words that  come to me as I reflect on my journey are ‘plans’ and ‘time’.

As I read, I realised that God had definite plans for my life. I also realised that these plans would be revealed  to me when  it was time to prepare for  the next part of my spritual adventure. When I reached the age of forty I was asked, “What  I hoped to achieve.”  My answer was to help churches in a vacancy. This led to my journey into becoming a Lay Reader.

Family support has been very important to me over the years and I especially appreciate the many good friends who have given generous support with their prayers and advice. My retirement gave me the opportunity to start the next phase of service.  I thought this was the end of my ministry calling until I felt the restlessness start again to enter into further and deeper  ministry through ordination which brings us together here today.”
