The Faculty Office; Wording of banns

The Faculty Office advise that the wording of banns for those who have a qualifying connection with a parish should be:

“N of the parish of X who wishes to be married in this church by virtue of his/ her connection with this parish”

Please note that for a couple who have a qualifying connection with the “away” parish the wording of the banns would be that from the Book of Common Prayer and no reference to a qualifying connection would be made. The banns do not need to refer to what is going on elsewhere.
