Lent resources

Lent is a time of prayer. It is a time to remember our faults and be penitent, to commit to spiritual disciplines and spiritual growth and to pray for the mission of God in the world.

Its 40 days mirror the time that Jesus spent in the wilderness after His baptism and its place leading up to Easter prepares us to remember the death and the resurrection of Christ.

This Lent, the Diocese of Bristol is encouraging members to pray and fast each Friday during the Lent period for the mission of the Church. Our prayer is that we might become communities of wholeness with Christ at the centre, growing in commitment to God, partnership with others within and beyond the Church, influence in the world and numbers of those who are following Christ.

Here are some resources to help you in this journey:

This year’s Diocesan Lent Appeal is going to provide scholarships to train Ugandan clergy at the Uganda Christian University.

UCU does a fantastic job of preparing clergy for mission and ministry in our Link Province of the Church of Uganda as well as helping them develop throughout their ministry.  It costs just £500 to train a clergy person for a year.
Please give generously. If you are fasting this Lent, perhaps give the money you would have spent on food and drink to the appeal.
