- Christian Aid invited Bishop Nelson (Northern
Diocese) to come to the UK to speak at Greenbelt Festival at Cheltenham
racecourse which he did to many thousands and officiated at the Sunday
Eucharist. He, Brenda and Rev Willy Akena (his Chaplain and
Communications Officer) stayed in the Deanery and were able to meet
with a group to discuss the way forward in support for the area. Nelson
and Brenda went on to Oxford to meet CMS and to London, Rev
Willy was a great success at St. Peter’s, Henleaze over a
weekend.
- Money from a Harvest Lunch (£300) was requested to be given
to Willy as he takes up training in Kampala. The Deanery
Uganda Link gave each of them £100 for their own use. We hope
to see Nelson and Brenda here for Lambeth.
- Deanery social event at All Saints, Clifton to publicise our three
Dioceses in Uganda. 100 people attended. A lot of photgraphs on
display. There was a short time of worship followed by drinks and a
splendid supper. A most moving talk by Bishop Lee recounting his first
visit to the area. A collection at the end raised
£900.
- In October, a successful Talents and Gift Auction
at St. Peter’s Henleaze with Andrew Morgan (All
Saints), raised £4000 for parish Uganda outreach.
