If you are following or would like to follow the Values for Life materials for school worship and inculcating a distinctive Christian Character to your school these materials are available by emailing: jumpingfish@glosdioc.org.uk
There are 6 new values available from September 2008:
Generosity, Service, Respect, Wisdom, Responsibility & Perseverance.
School Worship  (click here)
A further very good website for Worship is the Culham Institute which offers free downloadable ideas for Primary and Secondary Schools for whole school and class contexts. www.culham.ac.uk
For Primary Schools there is also a series of “funsized assemblies” written by The Methodist Church which use bible stories to enhance the SEAL National Primary Strategy. They are called  “A Teacher’s Dozen” and are available from www.twelvebaskets.co.uk or www.teachersdozen.co.uk  (These have to be purchased)
The Stapleford Centre also offers some good worship materials which are also free and downloadable www.stapleford-centre.org/assemblies

Festivals (click here)
For creating exciting interactive experiences of Christian Festivals and forging stronger links with your local partner Church. Ask your local Church members to create interactive “stations” around the church so Children can go on trails.
The packs explaining how to create these trails for Easter , Christmas , Pentecost and Harvest are available by emailing: jumpingfish@glosdioc.org.uk

Variety and Progression in Festivals
One problem with Festivals is that year 6 students can feel that they have heard the same story the same way and have learned nothing new since reception.
To ensure Progression when exploring Festivals and differing perspectives Festival Matters is excellent material and is available from:
www.saled.org

Creating Reflective Environments that encourage the development of Spirituality
Many Schools are using the reflective corners in their schools and ideas for these can be found in the Pause for Reflections and Pause to Reflect on Values packs again available from jumpingfish@glosdioc.org.uk  However these are meant as the stimulus to get you to think up your own reflective corners to support your students.

Outdoor Spaces (click here)
Many Schools are working hard to develop their own reflective outdoor spaces or sacred gardens.
Coming soon from Shahne Vickery at Glos. diocese will be a series of cards similar to the Reflection packs giving pictures of various school’s reflective gardens which may offer ideas for the development of your spiritual garden area. These packs will be available from jumpingfish@glosdioc.org.uk
There is a charity which offers bi-annual prizes of £1,500 to schools with exemplary spiritual gardens : www.reep.org

Teaching R.E. (click here)
For both Secondary and Primary RE many excellent resources are available through R.E, Today services as I am sure you are aware. There website is: www.retoday.org.uk

Also of course don’t forget the BBC www.bbc.co.uk/schools who obviously have links to various programmes of revision for secondary school as well as access to their programming schedules.
It also offers materials for each key stage and virtual tours of sacred buildings.
My favourite is “Onion Street” which offers forums and chat rooms to young people to chat about religious and ethical issues and offers quizzes and interactive games.

In terms of working out the health of R.E. in your school and any thing to do with Assessment in R.E.  http://betterre.reonline.org.uk  This covers a toolkit for the department , baseline testing for secondary schools , the pupil “I can” statements and the non statutory national framework.

Other R.E. websites that may be of useful: www.natre.org.uk which offers
the “Spirited Arts” competition and children talking forum.

The Culham website also offers interesting R.E materials : www.culham.ac.uk and is well worth a look.

For Secondary Schools teaching Religion and Ethics
www.truetube.co.uk is an excellent resource which provides clips about Abortion Euthanasia, Race etc.

A couple of my personal favourite general  YouTube clips for the classroom are www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFZz6ICzpjI which is entitled
“Teenage Affluenza” and is an Australian advert for a charity event , but provides a witty way in to examining issues to do with Wealth and Poverty.
Another good one I have stolen from watching it being used at Fairfield School is good when studying Islamic prayer : http://youtube.com/watch?v=LK4MxwGlGwg

Using I.T. (click here)
Cumbria and Lancashire Education online offer all their materials online and some of them are very worth using : www.cleo.net.uk

YouTube in the classroom some schools have blocked the use of You tube in school for very sensible censorship reasons – however other schools unblock it for staff or staff can access YouTube through Google video (which also allows you to download  and save it).
A short relevant video clip can provide a great focus for part of a lesson.
www.youtube.com/group/reteachers offers a group where R.E. teachers have shared video clips they have found useful and well worth looking through.

Caring for you and nurturing your wellbeing (click here)
“Courage to Be” offer retreats for teachers and Headteachers who are feeling a little weary and jaded to re-examine their vocation and find a way through the demands to their own integrity within the profession.
www.vitalhub.net/vp_courage.htm

The Stapleford Centre also offers conferences that help teachers reflect on their well being and their Christian vocation to “Transform Lives"; www.stapleford-centre.org

Can you also maybe add in the personal growth – looking after your own spiritual side  www.sacredspace.ie which is a prayer site organised by the Jesuits.
