Sunday Sessions @ The Hare - St Paul's, Bristol

First published 7th February 2017

Once a month, a south Bristol pub opens its doors to the church.

The Sunday Sessions, which are held monthly at the Hare Pub, aim to provide a place where people can explore faith, creativity and community.

Each evening consists of an eclectic mix of live music, performance, interviews, chat and faith stories.

Alongside local bands performing, the monthly meetings have included a question and answer session with the Bishop of Bristol, the Rt Revd Mike Hill, and an evening of performance poetry.

Sometimes the church building itself can be a barrier to people wanting to examine areas of faith.

The Revd Nick Hay, vicar of St Pauls, said the Sunday Sessions have brought together a community of people who wanted to find a relaxed way of exploring their faith.

He added: The Sunday Sessions serves and connects with a small group of people who want to explore what it means to follow God outside of the church setting.

Sometimes the church building itself can be a barrier to people wanting to examine areas of faith. By moving into a pub, we are able to bring the church into the community. "

What next?

  • Think about how you could meet in a creative setting outside the church building to explore faith and discipleship with people in a new way.
